media…

is something one shouldn’t take it too seriously.
They give such dramatic, twist-and-turn, juicy description of the story, depicting something that make most readers believe that it is the FACT. That is their job isn’t it? To create hot topics, raise in readership.. competing which media source is better than which.. (not that there is much to compare here either..)

I just happen to see this group.. and so.. I don’t whether I should believe in the media.. (mostly NOT) given they report the wrong thing most of the time.. creating stories like a best-selling novel. So, don’t make someone guilty when he/she was not even charged.

The NTU stabbing news was definitely a very hot topic.. But why did the media always make an ASS of U an ME??

Below is the summary extracted from FB’s group named “For the truth behind the NTU stabbing incident” (a little duh, but yea.. haha)

Summary of Facts in Chronological Order

*David Hartanto Widjaja*
1) An Indonesian student who was selected to represent Indonesia in International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) in Mexico during his senior high school days at SMUK 1, Jakarta.

2) He is known to be cheerful, nice, pleasant, and not easily stressed. One of his IMO friends said that when David was on the verge not being able to represent Indonesia for IMO, he did not show any sign of disappointment, let alone depression.

3) He is known to be an avid gamer, spending hours everyday playing computer games. His online game friends testify that David, known by the nickname Majin / Terra Majin, is a very fun, humorist, and pleasant person. Some of the games he played are Destiny Online and Hammerfall RPG on Facebook.

4) David’s ASEAN scholarship was terminated at the end of semester 7 due to his poor grades, reported to be below the required 3.5 GPA. David has informed his family as soon as he received this news, which is about 3 weeks before the incident. David and his family accepted the fact, and they don’t have the slightest of problems to make the final $3000 payment for David’s final (8th) semester.

*Final Year Project (FYP)*
1) Prof Chan Kap Luk (CKL) was David’s Industrial Attachment (IA) supervisor.

2) Students in NTU are given the freedom to choose their professor and the project title. David probably chose CKL because David was very satisfied with their relationship during IA.

3) The title of David’s FYP: Multiview acquisition from Multi-camera configuration for person adaptive 3D display. The goal is to create a 3D image of an object by processing the image produced by multiple cameras. If successful, this technology could lead to a breakthrough in security and military technology.

4) This project is reported to have received $500k funding from an unknown source (confirmation required). Whether the money is only for this project, or this FYP is a sub-project of a bigger one, is unknown.

5) The FYP is a two-semester program, so it has already started on semester 7. FYP draft report must be submitted about 4-6 weeks into semester 8, while the final report should be submitted a few weeks thereafter.

6) The FYP grade will not be disclosed until the end of the final semester.

4 years.. and it’s over (before you realise).

After 4 “torturing” years in uni… the day has finally arrived… Convocation 2008.
First of all, I should congratulate all fellow school mates for graduating.. Somehow or rather, I am actually glad I get to know the people I met in NTU. I should say, it has been the best 4 years of life I had (for good or for worse, I appreciate all).

And to the 2 babes, Angeline and Adlina.. thanks for being such good buddies in uni! I wouldn’t survive this far without you 2 lor..

Stepping into working life.. is really something I ought to adjust and adapt quick… But I have more or less make up a plan for my next few years ahead.. something to keep me motivated to keep on working for my first job….

Pray for me! Ahoy all! Pictures…

extrinsic design.

Friday night.
Well, to be specific, it’s already Saturday.
And I’m in hall… >.<
Whatever- and sigh.

My eyes are going to pop out very soon i swear. And yet, my brain is still very stubbornly not listening to my aching and tiring body. Bah. This is not good.

Anyway, as I’d always said, examinations proliferate the rate I blog, I swear.
I dunno why, I just do. but well, just pray that this is my FINAL examination mugging! (at least not anywhere in the near future)

For the past 2 days, I’d been mugging in this quite cool, chic, bright and I should say comfortable place. And that’s the ADM Library. Well, for those who are non-NTU peeps, it’s the School of Art, Design and Media. In fact, I really like the library! I could find very interesting books to borrow and most of all, lots of Haruki Murakami’s books just lie there for me to grab! And just the other day, I was browsing through this books on homosexuality throughout the world since homo-sapiens exist. Really interesting I should say. And I could also borrow Chopin’s piano scores on Etudes. Gosh, I’m starting to miss that library. And well, I just realised that ADM building got some architecture design award. haha. Oh well, I should guess as much. Since that building is not normal at all.

Here’s a night scene of ADM.

A couple of quick shots from my mobile phone cam @ADM Library.

Wish me luck in exams… I think I really need them.

about video lecture & “hungry ghost festival”.

Imagine. While mustering whatever a person has (in terms of the capacity of tolerance), he/she has to bear with the very very poor pronounciation of the lecturer from the video.

From splitting, you swear you heard countless times of speeding/spitting.
From split, you bloody swear you heard the countless times of spit.

Spit! For goodness sake, we SPIT the clusters in Datamining. Yes, how I wish I could literally spit. Like pui

 The nightmare doesn’t ends here.

I have to bloody tolerate for god-knows-how-many hours of video lectures. Gawd, save our ears.

So as for about “Hungry Ghost Festival”, NTU recently opened a few new eateries, namely, Mac, Subway, Canadian Pizza, Old Chang Kee (still waiting), The Palette Bistro (some western cafe) and Sakae Sushi (still dunno if it’s open, which I doubt so).

So anyway, being so secluded and ulu-fied in its own solitary world, NTU, has finally thought that “oh, it’s time we should be hip~(with an Indian accent, sounds more convincing).”

The Hungry Ghosts had been unleashed…

Subway seems like some kind of sacred place, where the warmth light of humanity exists, which saves poor souls like people from NTU. Gosh. And it’s not as if Subway is cheaper. No student discount in school campus?!?! Not good.

And so people are willingly to queue as long as 45 minutes just to eat Subway?!? Erm… fine.
I can’t say it’s wrong. Cos, it like, it’s been like what? 50 years before NTU had a decent fast food chain other than MacDonalds’.

Well.. what should I say?
This semester SUCKS.

Anyway, the end is near. But for now is still “So near, yet so far”.

I left with less than 10 days to STUDY!!!!!!!!
urghhhh.

Anyway, being such a random person, I’d post MacGriddles that I’d finally tried in NTU mac (just to make myself feel a teeny weeny better.. for what.. i also dunno..)

Mug, mug, mug and MUGGGGGGGG!!!!!
