This song is definitely a classic.
I mean, for me, I can listen again and again, and yet you won’t feel it’s outdated. At least for me it doesn’t. (album released in 1999 which includes this track)

And this song basically tells you what Shiina Ringo felt and experience when she came her way to Tokyo to become a musician. (I guess)

^[3] Ochanomizu – a stop on the Marunouchi Tokyo subway line (Ginza and Ikebukuro are also Marunouchi stops)
^[4] Marshall – brand of her amplifier
^[5] Rat – her PROCO brand distortion pedal – her ’zine “RAT” is also named after this
^[6] Benzie – nickname of one of her idols (and rumored former boyfriend), Asai Kenichi (of Blankey Jet City, Sherbets, and Ajico)
^[7] Korakuen – a music hall in the Tokyo Dome and a Marunouchi stop

^[10] The line “ao kande itte choudai” (Blue bite it and come for me) is a play on words – aokan is slang for “outdoor sex” and “outdoor prostitution,” and “iku (itte)” means “come” (reach orgasm)
